Chalky/Faded Plastic?

One thing that can always ruin the look of a freshly detailed car is where the black plastic trim areas of the bodywork have faded. These areas which were once a deep black color when they left the factory, change to an old and tired looking grey(sometimes almost white) color over time. Deep black looks smooth and clean and will provide the contrast against body panels that makes your paintwork pop and standout.

Why Does Black Plastic Trim Fade?

Plastic contains oils. Over a period of time time, those oils degrade which in turn leads to the plastic deteriorating. Unlike paintwork, plastic trim pieces don’t have a protective clear coat. So, without this layer of defense, it will always be more susceptible to damage from the elements.

Restoration of Trim

Unlike temporary fixes, like gel or coating the trim, which last a few weeks to few months.

We use a permanent solution. At Elevated, we carefully remove all the trims and get them professionally painted using our special trim/molding paint. This has the correct UV coat to last a long time.
